Miley Cyrus also known as Destiny Hope Cyrus is an American Actress as well as a Music Artist. Destiny Hope Cyrus changed her name to Miley as a tribute to her grandfather Ronald Ray Cyrus. The name Miley was born out of her tendency as a child to smile. Billy Ray nicknamed her Smiley which eventually morphed into what she is known today.
She was born on November 23rd 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee. After seeing the stage production of Mamma Mia, she told her dad that she wanted to be an actress. She eventually landed a role in the movie 'Big Fish' and later on went on to audition for the role Lavagirl in ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.’

She got her first break in the children's television series Hannah Montana which was featured by Disney Channel. This was premiered to the largest audience. This resulted in her rising to fame. This show lasted for four seasons and it scored box office success with the Hannah Montana movie.
Both the film and its soundtrack which had twelve songs were performed by Cyrus. The single "The Climb" became a Top 40 hit in twelve countries.
She launched her clothing line in 2009. This was promoted during her extended play The Time of Our Lives in August. The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200. The following week however the album rose to number 2 on the chart. The song "Party in the USA" debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 100. To promote the album she went on the Wonder World Tour which included 50 shows in US. The tour was a commercial success.
Miley began transitioning into an adult image in late 2008. Her representatives negotiated a deal with Nicholas Sparks to write a screenplay which would serve as a star vehicle for Cyrus by introducing her to older audiences. The movie released on March 31, 2010 and it received poor reviews. Nonetheless the film was a commercial success.
She had begun dating Liam Hemsworth during production. She's described Hemsworth as her "first serious boyfriend".
Miley released her third studio album in June 2010 and this became her last to be released by Hollywood Records. The album debuted at number three on Billboard 200. The album was preceded by the lead single, "Can't Be Tamed" on May 18, 2010, and peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100.
Miley then embarked on her Gypsy Heart Tour, which began in April 2011 and concluded on July 2011 after 21 shows.
In 2012, Cyrus starred in the film LOL alongside Demi Moore. She played a teenage girl who experiments with drinking, drugs, and sexual activity. The film flopped and hence was not commercially successful, She later starred in Cyrus later starred in the comedy film So Undercover, appearing as an FBI agent who is required to go undercover at a college sorority.The film was released direct-to-video in the United States on February 5, 2013. It was also reported on August 2, 2011, by Contact Music that Cyrus has signed on to star in a comedy in which she plays a woman who broke a promise to God; the film has not yet released.
In 2012, Miley recorded a cover of the Bob Dylan song "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go". This song earned positive reviews from music critics.
Miley has also starred in the film Family Bond, portraying a girl who meets her spy father in an attempt to save her kidnapped mother. The film, distributed by Universal Pictures, is slated for release in 2013. That same year she made a guest appearance in the tv series Two and a Half Men, appearing in two episodes as Missi, the girlfriend of character Jake Harper.
On May 31, 2012, Cyrus and Hemsworth became engaged; he proposed to her with a 3.5-carat diamond ring.
In 2013 she left Hollywood Records for a new recording contract with RCA Records. On June 9th Miley released the song "We Can't Stop" as the lead single from Bangerz. Whilst working on the album, Cyrus appeared in various collaborations. She provided guest vocals for the Rock Mafia song "Morning Sun", and provided background vocals for the song "Decisions" by Borgore.
